Copper Canyon Academy boarding schools for girls has a college prep focused academic program, and is fully accredited by North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement. All academic classes are taught by Arizona Certified Teachers. Copper Canyon Academy's academic program is designed to maximize a students learning potential, a joy of learning, and also utilizes a unique credit recovery program. Success is academics enables students to gain increased self-esteem, self-awareness, self-confidence, self-reliance and self-management.

COURSES OFFERED
The academic program at Copper Canyon Academy offers smaller classes. Specific classes are scheduled each semester primarily on need however other considerations are taken into account. The Academic Program at Copper Canyon Academy offers core classes needed to earn a high school diploma.

THE ABILITY TO EARN A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA
- Copper Canyon Academy students actively work toward receiving a high school diploma. If a student earns all required credits while at Copper Canyon Academy, she will be awarded a diploma from Copper Canyon Academy. Otherwise, Copper Canyon Academy will issue an official transcript to a successive school so the student can continue pursing this goal.
- By earning a high school diploma the student builds a foundation of learning and knowledge expected of a young adult in this society. This is a beginning to being able to function in a complex and changing world, and can lead to obtaining viable employment and/or pursing a post-secondary education.
DEVELOP A LOVE FOR LEARNING
- In a pluralistic world where information is expanding at an exponential rate, it is necessary for students to have proficient critical thinking skills to negotiate this complex world. Critical thinking skills also enable a student to dig deeper into subjects and understand at a greater level the world around them. Ideally, critical thinking skills are used on oneself to create a greater degree of self-awareness and understanding, which can lead to reaching a greater potential in oneself.
BECOME A CRITICAL THINKER
- In a pluralistic world where information is expanding at an exponential rate, it is necessary for students to have proficient critical thinking skills to negotiate this complex world. SELF DISCIPLINE
- It is necessary for students to develop self discipline to complete assignments, classes and a diploma. Self discipline means not only the ability to complete things that are unpleasant and difficult, but also the ability to stay focused, remain persistent, and be organized. This trait serves the student throughout her lifetime.
COURSE LOAD
- Each student at Copper Canyon Academy takes 5-6 classes during the Fall and Winter semesters and 2-3 classes during the summer session. Up to 7.5 credits can be earned in a 12 month period of time. Because of scheduling constraints and the added summer session, the sequencing of classes may appear different than that in a traditional school setting. However, over the course of 12 months, sequencing of classes is very similar to that of a traditional school.
BLOCK SCHEDULE
- A block schedule is followed at Copper Canyon Academy. Three classes are scheduled each day, with a different three classes scheduled on alternating days, making six core classes a student can take each semester. The school day begins at 8:30 AM and each class meets for 85 minutes with five minute breaks between classes. There is a 30 minute lunch break. There is also a one hour constructive time directly after lunch for students to study and catch up on homework, or receive tutoring from the teachers.
SAT/ACT
- In preparation for College Juniors and Seniors are expected to take either the SAT test and/or ACT test while enrolled at Copper Canyon Academy. Trained SAT/ACT Preparation teachers are available to provide individual tutoring for each student.
EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
In addition to the college prep academic program, students at Copper Canyon Academy can participate in school-sponsored extra-curricular activities and off-campus trips that promote further academic and personal growth through supervised activities.
During the summer, Copper Canyon Academy students experience great drama and foster an appreciation for the arts at the Utah Shakespearean Festival.
Twice a year, Copper Canyon juniors and seniors travel to Washington, D.C. to take part in the Presidential Classroom. This program presents our next generation of civic leaders a chance to observe the federal government at work as students go behind the scenes of our nation's capital. Students participate in seminars and discussions featuring members of Congress, presidential appointees, senior military officials, top business leaders and journalists. Students also observe the United States Congress in action, visit the renowned sites of our nation's capital and strengthen their leadership, public speaking and debate skills.
